From Zach Barker - SafeHaven Fundraiser

Good Saturday To You!

I hope you are having a great weekend and welcome this email about an upcoming event that my very good friends, Kearstin Patterson and Rachel Wilkins, are hosting for SafeHaven Family Shelter.   It is a Nashville flavor of “Dancing with the Stars!”  http://www.safehaven.org/upcomingevents

As President of the Junior Chamber, we partnered with SafeHaven to help support their goals of helping displaced families stay together as they rebound back into a stable living environment.  This is different from other shelters, which separate the family, resulting many times in destruction of the family unit by preventing the family from continuing to live, grow and build together.

I hope you will consider attending or supporting SafeHaven.  Thank you so much for your continued support – personally and professionally.  As always, if I can help… don’t hesitate to contact me!!

Event Details:

There are only two weeks left to purchase your tickets for the Dancing with Safe Haven Late Party on April 9 at the brand new, and exclusive to Nashville, Hutton Hotel on West End. Click on the invitation below to purchase your tickets for $50 in advance, or go to www.safehaven.org. Tickets are $55 at the door.

A full bar, light hors d’ oeuvres, celebrity dancing and a DJ will all be provided with the purchase of your ticket – not to mention, you’ll be supporting a great cause. The late party starts at 8:30 and will last into the evening.  Please feel free to forward the invitation to your friends.  The more the merrier to support this wonderful cause.

Safe Haven Family Shelter provides shelter and transitional services that empower Middle Tennessee homeless families with children to achieve lasting self-sufficiency.

For more information or to purchase tickets visit www.safehaven.org or read the email below.

Cheers,

Ground Zero

Like many, I spent today finalizing my goals for the upcoming year.

At 3:47pm, I was asked, by our company President, to meet at 4:15pm. It was cool and sunny at the begining of our chat...

By 5:01pm, the sun was gone, a chilly rain started to fall, and I realized it was time... Time to change. Time to better. Time to take control.

Our meeting led to my being $15,000 per year poorer (on paper). I could detail out how I spent the past year re-defining the entire sales focus and model solely. Or the additional marketing expertise utilized to increase our sales reach, but it is all moot.

I am not upset, more disappointed, that ever time I "feel" I have taken a step forward, my salary cuts back.

Over 3 years, I have gone from $75,000 per year to $50,000. REALITY CHECK TIME.

----------

Realize that "employment" is slavery with socially acceptable compensation. The key is understanding this when defining your "place" in the work force.

We all play roles, from President (leader) to Manager (dictator) to Sales person (producer) to Mail Clerk (support staff).

No role is less critica than the others, in the fact they are all necessary to make the machine work properly. And yet... The people at the top (leaders) are in total control of the people below, and their compensation (security).

So if you are seeking to have maximum security (income), wouldn't it make sense to be in control?

Here's where the story gets interesting...
